The lad gets absolutely no respect on this forum. I haven’t seen a more consistent player for us since his arrival other than De Gea. No matter where he’s slotted he does a damn good job. Here’s highlights from his first season to refresh your memories lets see if this works

    Agreed with you, alex.

I’d like to see him slotted into the team as a foil for Pogba.

I would expect him to do a more than competent job.

Agreed with both of you. Perfect partner for Pogba. Not very flashy, just gets on with the job. Reads the game very well, is stronger than he looks and can pass and tackle.

Not sure what you mean about respect alex, the guy’s on over 100 grand a week. We’re just a few normal blokes on a teamtalk page talking about United players, that’s all. Respect? Behave!

Blind has performed very well given that he has played in an unnatural position for him. He seems to me to be our new O’Shea, perhaps better than him (though only time will tell). If he could carry his form into a central midfield role besides Pogba then he should be our regular starter there (assuming Smalling plays alongside Bailly in defence).

I just don’t get this respect thing happy. These guys are highly paid footballers that’s all. Nothing more, nothing less. As for your pompous comment about McDonalds, maybe it’s people who work there who deserve some respect, not overpaid footballers. Your arrogance knows no bounds.

    Ha ha, MY arrogance? Wow.
I don’t get drawn into the money debate about footballers. They earn stupid money, its a stupidly well paid industry, there’s nothing we can do about it. It’s also an industry where their pay doesn’t necessarily match their performance. When you’re paying Mario Balotelli almost a million pounds a month you know that it’s a messed up world. In light of that, I never go for the – “he’s making £300k a week so he should be doing blah blah blah”. Mario was making a million a month and couldn’t put a fuckin bib on!!

P.S. I’ve done time at McDonalds so I can joke about it. ;o)

Fuck me, it sounds like you’re bitter about what they get paid as well. Begs the question why you were having a go at me about it. Probably just another of your have a go at me days eh?

My opinion on Blind has fluctuated since his arrival. When he first arrived he brought a bit of drive and energy to the midfield which we severely lacked under Moyes. But after a while I thought he was out of his depth in that role and didn’t offer too much more than energy and drive. He then did well at left back and dove tailed well with Young towards the end of the season. I was sceptical when he was moved to centre back last season but I think he grew into the role as the season progressed and formed a solid partnership with Smalling. I think having Pogba alongside him and the fact that he’s settled at the club now means that he could excel in a midfield role. I think he’s a very useful utility player at the very least.

Havent seen the full press conference yet but going by the quotes i have seen Mourinho has said he has five players (Pogba, Fellaini, Carrick, Herrera and Schneiderlin) playing for two central midfield positions. Looks like Blind will only ever be CB or possibly backup LB for United this season.

How does one post a youtube video directly to the thread? I tried the embedded code and just c&p’ing the html link, neither worked.

@alex. You go to the video clip, right click and select the “copy video URL” option, then paste onto the thread.

Hmmmm, interesting. So if Blind is dropped today for Smalling that essentially is the end of him in the first 11…!
