Jake Cole is set to start for Plymouth after fellow goalkeeper Rene Gilmartin was ruled out for three or four weeks with a hamstring injury.

The former Watford shot-stopper had to be substituted in the 0-0 draw with Accrington and replaced by Cole, who looks set to get the nod against John Still’s men.

But manager John Sheridan will assess Reading loanee Gozie Ugwu who is 50/50 to feature because of an ongoing ankle injury. The striker, who had a spell on loan at Yeovil earlier this season, is yet to make his Pilgrims bow.

Fellow forward Warren Feeney remains out while Nick Chadwick is still suspended.

Transfer deadline day saw Robbie Williams and Rhys Griffiths leave Home Park by mutual consent as they look for regular football while Sheridan added Crystal Palace winger Jason Banton to his squad.

The 20-year-old former Liverpool man arrived on Thursday and will go straight into the matchday squad as Argyle look to pull away from the League Two drop zone.

Dagenham could hand a second debut to Ben Strevens for the trip to Plymouth.

The 32-year-old striker returned to the club he left in 2009 on transfer deadline day and will go straight into the squad.

He will compete with Jake Reed for a starting spot up front.

The Daggers have lost their last two games but boss John Still is unlikely to make drastic changes.

Still’s squad remains injury and suspension-free, with the only absentee being striker Josh Scott after he joined Ebbsfleet on loan on Thursday.

His place on the bench could go to Italian forward Gianluca Gracco who signed a permanent deal for the club this week. He joined in December on non-contract terms but is still waiting to make his Daggers debut.

Loan signings Jonathan Bond and Ben Reeves are set to make their Dagenham debuts in the crucial relegation clash at Plymouth.

Goalkeeper Bond has been brought in from Watford as short-term cover for Chris Lewington, who starts a two-match ban following his red card in the 5-0 defeat against Cheltenham last weekend. He will now compete with David Hogan to start at Home Park.

Attacking midfielder Ben Reeves has also arrived from Southampton and is in the reckoning to make his bow.

Luke Howell continued his comeback from a long-term knee injury with 45 minutes for the reserves in midweek but this weekend is expected to come too soon. Peter Gain (knee), Kevin Maher (foot) and Sam Williams (knee) remain sidelined.

Meanwhile, bottom-of-the-table Dagenham go into the crunch clash just three points behind the Pilgrims.

Joe Lennox is back from illness to boost Plymouth’s squad.

Lennox narrowly missed out as Argyle marched to a resounding 4-0 victory at Accrington, but with the extra time spent recuperating, the midfielder is now vying for a starting spot.

Warren Feeney is also set to return after missing all the Pilgrims’ matches in February so far with a calf problem.

On-loan Burnley striker Alex MacDonald had been touch-and-go to lead the line against Stanley but his well-taken brace is almost certain to have guaranteed him a starting berth this time out.

Goalkeeper Ollie Chenoweth has extended his loan spell with Truro City.

Carl Fletcher has the chance to open a six-point gap between his side and the bottom-placed Daggers with a second consecutive league victory.

Rory Patterson will be pushing for a start when Plymouth host Dagenham.

Patterson, fresh from his goal for Northern Ireland, came off the bench in Saturday’s defeat to Brentford and will be looking for a promotion to the starting line-up.

Carl Fletcher has been absent from the Argyle side for the last seven matches after suffering a leg injury and has returned to training but Tuesday’s game is likely to come too soon for the midfielder.

Goalkeeper David Button has also occupied the sidelines with a leg injury and is close to a return as is Jim Paterson who has returned to full training following a torn hamstring but is unlikely to be risked yet.

Stephane Zubar impressed on his debut at right-back and is likely to keep his place.

Dagenham manager John Still is set to keep faith with teenage left-back Femi Ilefanmi at Plymouth.

The 19-year-old was handed a surprise debut against Oldham on Saturday in place of former Argyle full-back Damien McCrory and won the man-of-the-match award in the 1-0 defeat.

Loanees Solomon Taiwo, Medy Elito and Kayleden Brown all started against the Latics as Still searched for the winning formula and should keep their places after impressing in the defeat.

Goalkeeper Tony Roberts is fit after an ankle injury but could only make the bench after the form of stand-in Chris Lewington between the sticks.

Defender Scott Doe has suffered a setback in his recovery from ankle ligament damage and misses out while midfielder Stuart Lewis has joined Wycombe on loan.
