MK Dons v Port Vale preview

MK Dons boss Karl Robinson is hopeful Antony Kay will be fit enough to return to action against Port Vale following his inclusion on the substitutes’ bench last weekend.

Kay made his first appearance in the matchday squad since undergoing hip surgery in September away at Wolves but was an unused replacement. However, this Saturday, the defender is expected to be involved in some capacity.

More good news on the injury front for Robinson comes in the shape of winger Daniel Powell, who is in line for a return to full training on Friday and, as a result, may feature in the squad at the weekend.

However, Dele Alli and Luke Chadwick (foot) will miss out for another week while Dean Bowditch (hip) remains the only long-term absentee.

Adam Yates and Rob Taylor are injury concerns for Port Vale’s trip to MK Dons.

Right-back Yates has suffered a back spasm while left winger Taylor sustained a thigh injury after coming on as a substitute last weekend in the 2-2 home draw with Stevenage.

Should Yates fail to make it, manager Micky Adams could switch Richard Duffy from centre-half to the right side of defence. That would mean Liam Chilvers returning to the side or Carl Dickinson moving from left-back to the centre, with fit-again Dan Jones coming back in at left-back.

Taylor’s injury is a frustration for the 28-year-old who has impressed since returning after eight months out with Achilles problems. He has scored a goal and set up three others in his last two games to force his way back into Adams’s plans.
