Hartlepool v York preview

Hartlepool’s new loan signings Jack Barmby and Luke Williams are hoping to make their first appearances for the club against York and Marlon Harewood is poised for his home debut.

Attacking midfielder Barmby, son of former England international Nick, and striker Williams both arrived on loan this week from Manchester United and Middlesbrough respectively.

Harewood made his debut in last week’s defeat at Fleetwood so manager Colin Cooper has plenty to ponder as Pools bid to halt a run of three straight league defeats.

Michael Duckworth remains sidelined following a double hernia operation and fellow defender Jordan Richards is suspended following his dismissal at Fleetwood, so Sam Collins could return to the starting line-up.

York manager Nigel Worthington could name an unchanged starting line-up at Hartlepool.

Nick Pope was preferred in goal to Michael Ingham last week following his return to the club on loan from Charlton and is expected to retain his place, while Worthington has no new injury or suspension worries.

Recent signing John McCombe is hoping to make his first appearance in defence after he was an unused substitute in last week’s goalless home draw with Bristol Rovers.

Winger Sander Puri (hamstring) remains sidelined and defender Dan Parslow (cruciate) is out for the rest of the season as the Minstermen bid to extend their unbeaten run to five matches.
