Rochdale could be forced into handing a debut to youth-team goalkeeper Danny Taberner when they take on Luton in the first round of the FA Cup.

Regular number one Kenny Arthur is rated doubtful with a back injury and Matt Edwards is sidelined with a fractured wrist.

Scunthorpe keeper Josh Lillis took the gloves for last weekend's stunning 4-0 win over Bournemouth after arriving on an emergency seven-day loan, but he has since returned to his parent club so Taberner is set to step in should Arthur miss out again.

Dale boss Keith Hill is also hampered by the unavailability of loan players Simon Whaley, Chris O'Grady and Dale Stevens, who have all been denied permission to play by their parent clubs.

Scott Wiseman and Will Buckley are rated doubtful, while skipper Gary Jones is highly unlikely to feature after suffering a minor setback in his recovery from a hamstring injury.

Ciaran Toner has returned to training following a spell on the sidelines with shin splints but he is not yet ready for a first-team return.
