Steven Schumacher is expected to go straight back into Crewe's starting line-up on his return from injury when Morecambe visit Gresty Road.

Schumacher missed the FA Cup defeat at York with a hamstring strain. Simon Walton suffered a knee injury in training at the start of this week and Schumacher should replace him in midfield.

"Steven wanted to play against York but he wasn't fit enough on the Friday to be considered," said Crewe boss Dario Gradi. "Simon is a doubt. If you suffer a knee injury one day, you don't expect to recover the next."

Danny O'Donnell could be in line for a surprise recall. The defender has not featured since the 5-3 defeat at Accrington in late September.

Striker Shaun Miller is expected to be included despite undergoing blood tests this week to determine the cause of his fatigue problems.
