John Thompson is suspended for Notts County's League Two trip to Hereford on Saturday after collecting his fifth yellow card in midweek.

The defender was cautioned during the 4-0 home win over Darlington and must serve a one-match ban.

Neal Bishop could come back into the reckoning after an ankle injury ruled him out against the Quakers but fellow midfielder Johnnie Jackson (knee) will remain sidelined.

County crushed Darlington with three goals in the opening 18 minutes and boss Hans Backe is looking for his side to get out of the traps quickly again at Edgar Street.

"That start was excellent, especially as we had been a little bit slow to start in most of the games so far," said the Swede.

"Getting those early goals helped us a lot and hopefully we can repeat the trick at Hereford. But it won't be an easy game as they have been picking up some good results recently."
