West Brom boss Roberto Di Matteo has refused to rule out the chance of Simon Cox being involved in the home clash against Sheffield Wednesday.

The striker was stretchered off with a badly bruised back following a collision with goalkeeper Carl Ikeme in Saturday's 3-1 defeat at QPR but the injury is not as bad as initially feared and he could play after taking part in training on Monday.

James Morrison will be hoping to retain his place in the starting XI, along with new signing Steven Reid, after making his first start in 11 months as he continued his comeback from injury against QPR.

Ishmael Miller will be pushing for a starting role after coming off the bench to make his first appearance in a month following his recovery from an ankle problem but Roman Bednar (groin) has again been ruled out.

Giles Barnes is in contention for a belated debut but it remains to be seen whether or not Di Matteo will include him in his squad.

If the Baggies avoid defeat they will leapfrog Nottingham Forest to reclaim second place in the Championship.
