Southend v Barnet preview

Team news ahead of Friday's League Two clash between Southend and Barnet at Roots Hall.

Southend boast a fully-fit Freddy Eastwood.

The striker, on loan from Coventry, had been struggling with a knee injury and was only able to make the bench for last weekend's goalless draw at Torquay.

Fellow forward Elliot Benyon serves the final game of his three-match suspension as the Shrimpers look for the three points which would guarantee a play-off place.

United were boosted on Thursday by the return to training of Ryan Leonard, Luke Prosser and Anto Flood, although the clash against the Bees, managed by new boss Martin Allen for the first time, is likely to come too soon.

Christian Dailly (broken toe) and Blair Sturrock are set to return to training next week, but Liam Dickinson (ankle), JP Kalala and Barry Corr (both knee) have been ruled out for the remainder of the season.

Martin Allen begins his third spell in charge of Barnet.

Allen made a shock return to Underhill after the Bees axed Lawrie Sanchez earlier this week with just three games left to preserve their league status.

Barnet have no new injury concerns but will still be without defenders Darren Dennehy (foot) and Danny Senda (knee), and striker Steve Kabba (knee).

Winger Mark Marshall is also unavailable as he remains suspended following a failed drugs test on Boxing Day, while striker Charlie Taylor has had his contract cancelled by mutual consent.

Veteran frontman Scott McGleish could be recalled to the squad after dropping out for the 1-1 draw with fellow strugglers Hereford last week.
