Burton Albion v Fleetwood preview

Marcus Holness and Lee Bell come back into the reckoning for Burton ahead of the visit of Fleetwood.

Both players may have their work cut out trying to get back into the starting line-up though after Albion thrashed AFC Wimbledon 6-2 during their absence.

Defender Holness and midfielder Bell were suspended on Tuesday night as Gary Rowett’s side recorded their biggest ever win in the Football League.

It remains to be seen whether Rowett will stick with the same side after Burton conceded two late goals against the Dons.

“Our thinking at half-time (leading 4-0) was that we did not want to concede a goal. In fact, I didn’t really care if we didn’t score again as long as we could keep a clean sheet,” said Rowett. “I almost wanted to make a negative substitution in a way because I just wanted to make sure we didn’t give them anything. It was disappointing to concede goals – that’s five in two league games – so we’ve still got an awful lot of work to do on that front.”

Defenders Andrew Corbett and Aaron Webster, midfielder Chris Palmer and forwards Adi Yussuf and Matthew Paterson are available, along with Holness and Bell, should Rowett wish to make any changes.

On-loan Crystal Palace midfielder Alex Marrow may push for a start for Fleetwood..

Marrow joined in time to be named among the substitutes for Tuesday night’s trip to Bradford and played the final eight minutes of the 1-0 defeat at Valley Parade.

“I want to play as many games as I can here and hopefully get into the starting team come Saturday,” Marrow, who enjoyed a spell at Preston last season, told Fleetwood’s official website.

Cod Army boss Micky Mellon is free from injury concerns but may look to reshuffle his attacking options following three games without a goal.

Jon Parkin and David Ball led the line against the Bantams, while fellow summer signing Steven Gillespie was named among the substitutes alongside Andy Mangan.
