Chesterfield v Barnet preview

Chesterfield striker Marc Richards is back on the sidelines having only recently returned to the first-team picture after a month out with an ankle injury.

The summer signing lasted only a couple of minutes on his comeback against Fleetwood on Tuesday night, suffering a hamstring strain that is set to rule him out for at least two more weeks.

Tommy Lee has been absent since suffering shoulder ligament damage at the start of September but the goalkeeper is very close to making his comeback.

Tommy Wright, who is likely to be in caretaker charge for the final time with the appointment of Accrington’s Paul Cook as manager imminent, has options should he wish to make changes following the 2-1 home defeat to the Cod Army.

Defenders Nathan Smith and Neal Trotman, on-loan winger Micah Evans, midfielder Mark Randall and striker Craig Westcarr are

all available to come into the starting XI. Midfielder Mark Allott (hamstring) is likely to remain out though.

Barring any late injury scares, joint head coaches Edgar Davids and Mark Robson are expected to name the same squad that has been on duty for the last two matches.

The Bees overwhelmed Northampton at home last Friday night and then picked up a creditable goalless draw at Wycombe on Tuesday night with former Dutch international Davids starting both matches. He is again set to line up again against the Spireites.

Mark Byrne replaced Anthony Edgar just after the hour mark at Adams Park and is pressing for a start.

Ricky Holmes sustained an ankle injury against the Cobblers last Friday and faces a race against time to be fit, while Collins John is struggling with a quad injury.

Already on the sidelines are Curtis Weston (thigh), Ishmail Kamara (shoulder), Steve Kabba and Danny Senda (both knee).
