George Francomb is back in the AFC Wimbledon squad for the visit of the Minstermen.

The winger has been sidelined by a hamstring injury since the defeat at Shrewsbury on Valentine’s Day, but he returned to full training this week.

However, the Dons will be without defender Dave Winfield, who is on loan from York and not eligible to face his parent club.

Jake Goodman is not ready to return following a broken toe so Mark Phillips could step into the back four in Winfield’s absence.

York’s on-loan forward Diego De Girolamo is hoping to shake off illness and return to contention.

The Italian Under-20 international, back on loan from Sheffield United, missed the midweek win at Cambridge due to a virus and may have to settle for a place among the substitutes if he is fit.

Striker Jake Hyde returned from suspension to score in Tuesday night’s 3-0 win, while fellow front men Wes Fletcher and Michael Coulson were also on target.

Midfielder Luke Summerfield is still struggling with the thigh injury that has kept him out since the end of January.

AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley can welcome back a host of key players for the visit of the Minstermen.

Captain Alan Bennett returns after he was rested at Fleetwood last weekend while fellow defender Andy Frampton is fit despite twisting an ankle playing for the reserves in midweek on his comeback from two months out with a shoulder injury.

Peter Sweeney also played in midweek to prove his fitness after a metatarsal injury, George Francomb is available after a groin problem and Aaron Morris (ankle) and Danny Hylton (elbow) have shaken off the knocks they suffered last weekend.

However, Jim Fenlon, Kevin Sainte-Luce and Charlie Wyke are still not fit enough to return.

York striker Wes Fletcher is hoping to win his fitness battle in time for the clash with the Wombles.

Fletcher has scored 14 goals this season but has missed the last two matches due to a hamstring injury and will be assessed ahead of the game.

Midfielder Josh Carson sat out the Republic of Ireland Under-21s’ midweek defeat to Montenegro due to a groin strain, but is expected to be included in boss Nigel Worthington’s plans.

Worthington has no new injury or suspension worries with winger Sander Puri coming through Estonia’s midweek win in Gibraltar unscathed, but defender Dan Parslow (knee) is out for the rest of the season.

Curtis Osano could return to the AFC Wimbledon squad.

The defender has been out for two months with a calf injury but proved his fitness in a reserve game in midweek.

With Jonathan Meades (ankle) and Jim Fenlon (back) also sidelined Mat Mitchel-King has been deputising at right-back, but Osano’s return would see him switch to his preferred centre-half role.

Striker Charlie Strutton also played for the reserves after recovering from a knee injury.

But defender Will Antwi is still struggling with a hip problem and midfielder Peter Sweeney has a toe injury.

On-loan Brighton forward Brennan Dickenson is pushing for a start after coming off the bench to hit the Dons’ goal in their 2-1 defeat by Cheltenham last Saturday.

York trio Tom Platt, Jamie Reed and Ben Everson could all return to the squad in new manager Nigel Worthington’s first game in charge.

Worthington, installed as predecessor Gary Mills’ replacement on Monday, has recalled strikers Reed and Everson and midfielder Platt from their respective loan spells, with all players at Bootham Crescent handed a clean slate.

Chris Doig (ankle) returned to the substitutes’ bench last week and fellow centre-half David McGurk (hamstring) is also hoping to be in contention, but defender Jamal Fyfield is still struggling with an ankle injury.

Striker Michael Coulson, sidelined since October with knee ligament damage, is back in training and making good progress in his bid to return to first-team action for the first time since October.

The Minstermen, four points off the relegation zone, are chasing their first win in 12 league matches.

Dons boss Neal Eardley will be forced into changes as his side face the Minstermen for the second time in three days in their first-round replay.

They made light work of York on Saturday, triumphing 3-0 at Bootham Crescent in the league, but have to go at it again after the original tie ended 1-1 nine days ago.

And Eardley is unable to call on loanees George Francomb, Jonathan Meades and Jake Reeves as they have all been denied permission to play by their respective parent club.

Mat Mitchel-King (back) and Callum McNaughton (knee) have missed the last two games despite recovering from their injuries, so they could return to the squad as Eardley contends with a quick turnaround.

Pim Balkestein (groin) is still out along with midfielder Sammy Moore and forward Jason Prior (both leg).

A potentially intriguing second-round tie lies in wait for the Dons should they be victorious and MK Dons see off Cambridge City in their replay on Tuesday.

York manager Gary Mills will have an instant opportunity to exact revenge and may opt to change his thinking for the quick turnaround.

With six strikers at his disposal and his side failing to score at the weekend, Mills could look to the striking department for change, with Jamie Reed and Oli Johnson eyeing a start.

Midfielder John McReady is not ready to return following his dislocated shoulder and forward Michael Coulson is out for the rest of the season due to knee ligament damage.

Mills wants his side to be positive, saying: “If you feel sorry for yourself then we’ll lose on Monday. You have to bounce back and be a man.”
