Burton Albion v Dagenham preview

Brewers boss Gary Rowett has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the Daggers’ visit.

The hosts, who recorded a 2-0 win over non-league Altrincham in their FA Cup first-round replay on Thursday, face a quick turnaround to be ready for Saturday’s clash in the league.

Club captain John McGrath made his return to first-team action from the substitutes’ bench on Thursday after an eight-month lay-off with a foot injury.

The midfielder is now vying for a place in the starting line-up but the match could be too soon for him.

Defender Nathan Stanton, who was rested for the cup victory over the Robins, could return to Rowett’s starting XI should the boss opt to change things around.

Dagenham manager John Still will check on Luke Wilkinson ahead of the trip to Staffordshire.

Still watched his side record a tremendous 5-0 victory over promotion candidates Rotherham at Victoria Road last weekend.

But defender Wilkinson was forced off in the closing stages having taken a blow to the head which required seven staples to close the wound.

He now hopes to get the all-clear to feature wearing a bandage but should that not happen then Still will be forced into a reshuffle.

The most likely option would see Michael Spillane move back into central defence and Kevin Maher be called into midfield having served his one-match suspension.

Striker Sam Williams also missed out last weekend due to a knock but has trained all week and is battling to be in contention, as is defender Jake Caprice following his arrival on a month-long loan deal from Blackpool this week.
