Yeovil v Wycombe preview

Yeovil will be without cup-tied duo Paddy Madden and Dale Bennett as they have already played for Carlisle and AFC Wimbledon respectively in the competition.

Top scorer Madden missed the defeat to parent club Carlisle last time out due to the terms of his loan deal and was replaced by Gozie Ugwu and the Reading loanee could get the nod again up front while Watford defender Bennett will miss out on the chance of a first Glovers start.

Captain Jamie McAllister is also available again after serving a one-match ban against the Cumbrians and could step straight back into Gary Johnson’s starting XI against their League Two visitors.

Lewis Young and Nathan Ralph remain sidelined for a few more weeks while midfielder Dominic Blizzard is still out with a groin injury.

Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth will be without two midfielders.

Josh Scowen and Stuart Lewis both picked up their fifth bookings of the campaign in Saturday’s 2-0 victory against Bristol Rovers but it means they’ll both miss out as Wycombe look to win at Huish Park for the first time in their history.

Joel Grant, the club’s top scorer who netted his fourth goal in his last five games in the Chairboys’ win against Rovers, will be assessed in the build up to kick-off having been withdrawn at half-time with double vision after a blow to the head.

Ainsworth brought himself on for Grant at the interval and went on to score the second goal and the player-manager may name himself in the starting XI if the 25-year-old is ruled out.

This game will come too soon for injured trio Danny Foster, (knee) Anthony Stewart (thigh) and Gary Doherty (back) who are all set to return to training in the coming days.

Gavin Williams is the latest name to be added to Yeovil’s long-term injury list.

Williams was substituted after just 15 minutes of the Glovers’ 4-3 defeat to Preston at Deepdale on Friday night, leaving the pitch on crutches with suspected knee ligament damage – the extent of which has yet to be revealed as the club wait for test results.

Striker Jon Obika has still to hear whether he requires surgery on a knee injury, while Andy Williams is also out with an ankle problem.

But boss Terry Skiverton has acted quickly to bring in cover, signing striker Gavin Massey on a one-month loan from Watford.

Wycombe manager Gary Waddock will pick from an unchanged squad.

Scott Donnolly, Ben Harding, Joel Grant and Ben Strevens were restored to the starting line-up against Brentford on Saturday after being rested for the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy victory over Bristol Rovers.

Stuart Beavon came into the team following his hat-trick against the Pirates.

More changes could be on the cards after the 1-0 league defeat to the Bees and Waddock has plenty of options available.

Defender Danny Foster, experienced midfielder Gareth Ainsworth, winger Kevin Betsy and forwards Scott Rendell and Elliot Benyon will all be hoping to force their way into the manager’s plans.

Dave Winfield remains the only absentee due to knee and groin problems.
