Ashley Williams: Swansea skipper struggling with an ankle ligament injury

Swansea will once again be without skipper Ashley Williams for a home date with Sunderland on Saturday, with the talismanic centre-half still struggling with an ankle ligament injury.

Williams' Wales international colleague Ben Davies is also a major doubt with an ankle problem, while Leon Britton and Michel Vorm are nursing slight knocks.

Swansea boss Michael Laudrup has, however, been boosted by the news that creative talents Pablo Hernandez and Jonathan De Guzman have shaken off hip and groin complaints to put themselves in contention.

Gus Poyet is expected to be able to recall Steven Fletcher to the Sunderland ranks for his bow as a Premier League boss.

The Scottish striker, who boasts an impressive scoring record against Swansea, has been sidelined for the Black Cats' last three outings with a dislocated shoulder.

Fabio Borini may be offered an opportunity to impress against former loan employers, as Wes Brown and Keiren Westwood are welcomed back into the fold, but Ki Sung-Yueng is ineligible to play against his parent club.
