Macclesfield ended Brentford's four-game unbeaten run after winger Danny Thomas' third goal of the season gave them a 1-0 win.

Macclesfield twice hit the woodwork in the first half, with Brentford right-back Ben Starosta deflecting a Kevin McIntyre free-kick onto the inside of the upright in the fifth minute and striker Gareth Evans seeing his 20-yard drive deflected onto the crossbar in the 42nd minute.

Brentford though were unlucky not to be awarded a penalty when Tommy Lee could only palm a Sammy Moore shot into the path of Alan Connell, who appeared to be pushed off the ball in the area by Luke Dimech.

Substitute winger Simon Wiles created the winner with a wicked cross into the six-yard box, which defender John Mackie failed to clear, and Thomas pounced to thunder home a 10-yard drive.
