Substitutes Christian Roberts and Billy Paynter scored second-half goals as Swindon won 2-1 at Wycombe in the FA Cup first round on Saturday.

The hosts lost Dave McCracken to injury early on but still carried the greater goal threat in a dour first half, with Scott McGleish forcing a save from Robins keeper Peter Brezovan.

And the Chairboys' leading scorer again fired wide on 58 minutes.

Wycombe were made to rue those missed chances when half-time substitute Roberts struck on 68 minutes, beating Frank Fielding from close range.

The Robins doubled their lead five minutes later when Barry Corr set up Roberts' fellow sub Paynter who side-footed home from the edge of the box.

Wycombe grabbed a deserved consolation on 83 minutes when hesitation between Peter Brezovan and Sofiene Zaaboub left Matt Bloomfield to head into an empty net.
