High-flying Hereford dropped two points after being frustrated to a 0-0 draw by a battling Accrington side at Edgar Street.

Teenager Sam Gwynne, who was making his first start in the Football League, set up Trevor Benjamin in the fourth minute but the striker's shot went wide.

Gwynne also forced a diving save from Ian Dunbavin before Theo Robinson missed the first of several openings when he rifled wide.

Accrington, however, held firm to put Hereford on the back foot with Leam Richardson cutting loose on the right but his dangerous cross was cleared by Dean Beckwith at the expense of a corner.

Roscoe D'Sane had a 20-yard shot deflected over the Hereford crossbar by defender Robbie Threlfall. Richardson also missed an opening to put Accrington in front before the break when he miscued his shot from eight yards.
