Chesterfield re-wrote the record books with their first league win at Gigg Lane for 61 years as they beat Bury 1-0 on Boxing Day.
Peter Leven's first goal for nearly two months proved decisive as the hosts crashed to a fifth successive League Two defeat.
Having dominated for a 20-minute spell, the home side were hit with a sucker-punch when defender Andy Parrish recklessly fouled Leven - and he made no mistake from the penalty spot, firing hard and low into the bottom left-hand corner.
Bury's afternoon went from bad to worse when captain Paul Scott was sent-off for a second bookable offence in the 58th minute.
His clumsy two-footed challenge on Leven left referee Anthony Taylor with no choice but to reduce the home side to 10 men.
Leven should have scored a second in the last minute but chipped wide of the far post.
