Ben Strevens took his tally for the season to five goals as his brace earned struggling Dagenham a much-needed 2-0 win at Bury.

The 27-year-old was left unmarked to head home the 21st-minute opener.

He then took advantage of a goalkeeping howler in the 61st minute to kill the game off.

Dagenham began the game at an impressive rate, with lively midfielder Sam Saunders going close twice in the first eight minutes.

The second of his chances - a right-footed curling shot from 10 yards - forced Shakers goalkeeper Jim Provett into a fine save.

But Saunders was rewarded just 13 minutes later when his right-wing cross found Strevens unmarked to head home.

And Strevens was left dancing for joy when he scored probably the easiest goal of his career after Provett dropped another Saunders cross at his feet six yards out.
