A late strike from Francis Green gave struggling Macclesfield Town a vital 1-0 victory over Morecambe at Christie Park.

Green struck with a superb shot on the turn with just three minutes to go to give Ian Brightwell's side only their second win in 15 games.

Morecambe dominated the game for long periods but were denied on several occasions by Macclesfield goalkeeper Jonny Brain, who produced a string of fine saves.

He twice blocked from Garry Thompson in the first half before producing a stunning 57th-minute block from Stewart Drummond.

Carl Baker was a constant threat to Macclesfield but twice fired over from inside the area.

Macclesfield started the game well with Danny Thomas forcing a save from Shan Jalal in the first minute and the Morecambe goalkeeper had to be alert to tip over a Sean Hessey free-kick.
