Samir Nasri's goal was enough to give Arsenal a 1-0 win over West Brom on the opening day of the Premier League season at Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners made a flying start with Nasri sidefooting them into the lead after four minutes after fine work down the left by Theo Walcott.

It could have been 2-0 minutes later when Nasri's header was cleared off the line by Paul Robinson.

William Gallas then saw his 30-yard piledriver flash just wide, while Nicklas Bendtner header was also off target.

Manuel Almunia then pushed Kim Do-Heon's effort past the post as the half drew to a close.

And it was Albion who made the better start to the second period when Almunia blocked Ishmael Miller's low shot.

But it was all Arsenal after that and Emmanuel Adebayor and Robin van Persie came close to adding a second.
