Swansea condemned Preston to their first midweek league defeat in seven years as Ferrie Bodde inspired the visitors to a 2-0 win at Deepdale.
Bodde's stunning 40-yard strike gave the visitors a 20th-minute lead before Jordi Gomez's penalty in the 77th minute made sure the Swans took all three points.
Not since a 2-0 home defeat to Birmingham in February 2001 had Preston been beaten by Championship opposition at home on a Tuesday evening, but sought-after Swansea midfielder Bodde had no intention of allowing that run to continue.
Bodde delivered a virtuoso performance as he tormented the Preston defence throughout and his wonder strike from just inside the Preston half was a just reward.
Swansea had to wait until late on before securing the win. Guillem Bauza was brought down by debutant Jay McEveley and Gomez converted the penalty.
