A horror tackle from Macclesfield Town's Gareth Evans soured an entertaining 1-1 draw at Notts County's Meadow Lane on Saturday afternoon.

Evans' challenge on County defender Adam Tann resulted in a straight red card as Tann was stretchered off with a suspected broken leg.

Evans had only just returned from suspension after receiving a red card last month, but Macclesfield hung on grimly for the draw.

Notts striker Delroy Facey had given the hosts the lead with his first goal since arriving from Gillingham before Simon Yeo equalised after Russell Hoult spilled Evans' shot.

Evans received his marching orders two minutes later but County were unable to break the deadlock, with Jamie Clapham hitting the bar late on.

Facey had a golden opportunity to break his duck in the first half but blazed over from close range from Richard Butcher's cross. He made amends soon after half time by firing home but County could not find the second killer goal.
