Rotherham's two-game winning streak came to an end as they were beaten 1-0 at home by Darlington thanks to Ricky Ravenhill's strike.

After two away victories, Mark Robins' side slumped to a second successive home defeat as they failed to find a way through Darlington's mean defence.

The home side just about shaded a goalless first half in which the defences were always on top.

But it was the visitors who came closest to a goal when Liam Hatch thumped a pile-driver of a shot against the upright after 38 minutes.

Darlington finally broke the deadlock after 62 minutes. Rotherham had several chances to clear the danger following a Ryan Valentine pass but spurned them all and it was left to Ravenhill to prod the ball home from six-yards out.

The home side tried to turn up the heat and Darlington had Neil Austin to thank for a great block on the line from substitute Mark Hudson's shot, but the Quakers were quick to pull everyone back at every hint of danger and they held on for a deserved victory.
