Plymouth Argyle made it four games unbeaten as they held Southampton to a goalless draw in an entertaining clash at St Mary's on Tuesday night.
The Saints dominated the opening 45 minutes but were guilty of squandering several good opportunities with David McGoldrick and Jordan Robertson both off target.
Plymouth rarely threatened and their best chance fell to Jamie Mackie who shot into the side netting with the angle against him.
The visitors looked a completely different side in the second half with Paul Gallagher shooting wide from 20 yards and fellow substitute Craig Noone sending a header off target and then shooting wide late on.
Southampton missed the best chance of the second half, though, with McGoldrick seeing a shot cleared off the line by Chris Barker.
