Portsmouth surrendered another two-goal lead but then struck late through Sean Davis to beat Blackburn 3-2 in a thriller at Fratton Park.

Pompey failed to make their dominance count in the first half but they needed just four minutes of the second period to go ahead when Peter Crouch headed home a Glen Johnson cross.

It looked to be game over four minutes later when Jermain Defoe shrugged off two challenges on the edge of the area and ran past Paul Robinson to make it 2-0.

However Matt Derbyshire dragged one back with a simple header in the 62nd minute, just 30 seconds after replacing Benni McCarthy, and Tugay rifled home from 25 yards four minutes later to draw Rovers level.

This time, though, Pompey were up for finishing the job and substitute Davis was the man of the moment with a tap-in after Robinson saved Papa Bouba Diop's shot.
