Bristol Rovers finally ended their winless run of six games by beating Tranmere 2-0 in Saturday's League One clash at the Memorial Stadium.

Paul Trollope's Pirates had not won a game since the 4-2 victory over Southend on October 25, but Jo Kuffour and Chris Lines sealed the points.

The Pirates opened the scoring four minutes before the interval when Kuffour fired a right-footed shot into the bottom-right corner of the net from six yards following Craig Disley's pass, for his second goal in as many games.

Tranmere's Antony Kay sent his long-range effort wide of the left post within seconds of the restart, before Ian Moore headed wide from Andy Taylor's cross.

The miss proved costly for Ronnie Moore's Tranmere side as the hosts immediately doubled their advantage when Lines netted with a right-footed shot following Richard Lambert's pass.

Tranmere wasted a chance to reduce the deficit soon after when Kay headed over the bar as the home side held on to collect all three points.
