Neill Collins headed home with nine minutes remaining to secure Wolves a scarcely-deserved 1-0 victory over Doncaster at the Keepmoat Stadium.
Championship basement outfit Doncaster dominated the opening period but again failed to translate their possession into goals and Collins, who was only in the side because of an injury to Michael Mancienne, punished them by nodding in a precious winner for Mick McCarthy's men.
Early on Paul Heffernan raced clear and held off Richard Stearman before cracking a rising shot against the top of the crossbar.
However, Wolves went close themselves in the 39th minute when Andy Keogh rifled successive close-range shots against the bar.
But Wolves did get the breakthrough late on when Collins rose highest to greet Michael Kightly's deep free-kick from the left and plant a firm header past Neil Sullivan.
