Dagenham & Redbridge fought back from two goals down to put a dent in Bury's promotion hopes and draw 2-2 at Gigg Lane on Saturday.

The Daggers fell behind to a quickfire double from recalled Bury defender Efe Sodje, but battled back in the second half with Jon Nurse scoring on the hour mark and Ben Strevens claiming a 64th-minute equaliser to secure a deserved point in League Two.

On-loan Bury keeper Mark Tyler had denied Glen Southam and Paul Benson before the Shakers snatched the lead, Sodje lashing home the loose ball under Tony Roberts following Dave Buchanan's left-wing cross on 28 minutes.

And the veteran defender soon doubled Bury's lead from an inswinging free-kick by Brian Barry-Murphy, heading home unmarked at the far post from eight yards on 33 minutes.

The Daggers replied immediately as Nurse turned Buchanan and fired past Tyler from 12 yards before Benson then got behind the Shakers' defence to square for Strevens and although his first effort was saved, he bundled home the rebound.

Both teams pushed for the winner, with Stephen Dawson going closest for the home side, who remain third.
