Rotherham United kicked off their pre-season campaign with a 2-1 defeat to Walsall at the Don Valley Stadium on Saturday.
The visitors took a two-goal first-half lead with strikes from Alex Nicholls and Richard Davies.
The Millers pulled a goal back through new signing Tom Pope, but were unable to force a second against their League One opposition.
