MK Dons progressed to the Southern Section final of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy after a 4-1 win over Hereford at Edgar Street on Tuesday.

The Dons swept into the lead in the sixth minute when Sam Baldock beat goalkeeper Adam Bartlett with a low shot after a pass from Jason Puncheon.

Hereford, however, should have equalised shortly afterwards but Leon Constantine missed a gilt-edged chance with only goalkeeper Willy Gueret to beat.

The visitors, however, kept pushing forward with leading marksmen Easter shooting wide from 20 yards. On the counter-attack, teenager Jordan Mutch went close for Hereford with a powerful drive while Marc Pugh had a close-range effort well covered by Gueret.

Hereford eventually levelled in the 63rd minute when Constantine latched onto a cross from Jon Godsmark to beat Gueret from 10 yards.

But the Dons regained the lead six minutes later when Puncheon latched onto a Hereford defensive error to beat Bartlett from close range. Aaron Wilbraham and Jermaine Easter produced clinical late strikes to complete the rout.
