Leon Constantine scored his seventh goal of the season for Hereford but it was not enough as Crewe earned a 1-1 draw at Edgar Street.

Constantine pounced on a ball from Marc Pugh to smash a low shot past goalkeeper Steve Phillips three minutes before the break.

Phillips had previously saved on target efforts from Pugh and central defender Darren Jones but he had no chance to stop Constantine's powerful drive.

Crewe protested, claiming Pugh had handled the ball but referee Chris Sarginson swept their appeals aside.

The Railwaymen levelled four minutes into the second half when Clayton Donaldson turned a cross from Shaun Miller into the net.

And Pugh had a chance to force victory for Hereford late in the game but shot wide with only Phillips to beat.
