Danny Hollands scored two first-half goals as Bournemouth maintained their promotion push with a 2-1 win over Notts County on Tuesday night.

The Cherries had slipped six points behind leaders Rochdale after a goalless draw with lowly Cheltenham, but they turned on the style to beat play-off contenders County and might have been out of sight by half-time.

Bournemouth never looked back after Hollands headed them in front after just 90 seconds from a Rhoys Wiggins corner.

They ripped the Magpies defence to shreds, with Kasper Schmeichel saving brilliantly from Brett Pitman in between a series of near misses by Marvin Bartley and Hollands.

Bournemouth's domination warranted a second goal, which came 10 minutes before half-time, with Pitman feeding Hollands to make it 2-0 despite a valiant effort from Schmeichel.

Neal Bishop lit the touch paper to an action-packed second half when he clawed a goal back for Notts County from 12 yards four minutes after the restart, but that was all the visitors could manage.
