Rock-bottom Darlington played out a 0-0 draw with Accrington Stanley that all but confirms their relegation from the Football League.

Simon Davey's side are now a massive 21 points adrift of safety at the foot of the table with the same amount to play for over their remaining seven games.

However, there were good chances for both sides to snatch all three points throughout at the Darlington Arena.

Tadhg Purcell saw his goalbound shot turned around a post by Stanley keeper Ian Dunbavin just before the half-hour mark.

Visiting striker Michael Symes then missed a glorious chance when he found himself in space inside the Darlington area, but a poor volley wide failed to trouble Quakers keeper Shane Redmond.

After the break, a weak shot from Stanley substitute John Miles was easily held by Redmond, before Mor Diop set up Purcell at the other end but he fired wide from 15 yards with team-mates screaming for a pass.

Redmond then pulled off a point-blank save to deny Grant a late winner and maintain the deadlock.
