Goals from Billy Sharp and Jason Puncheon gave Premier League new boys Southampton a 2-0 friendly win over Wolves at St Mary's on Saturday.

Argentine goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga saved one-on-one from Sylvain Ebanks-Blake in the opening stages, but the home side went on to dominate throughout.

Former Doncaster striker Sharp opened the scoring midway through the first period for Nigel Adkins' men as he tapped home Adam Lallana's squared pass.

Then, in the second half, midfielder Puncheon, who has had loan spells at Millwall, Blackpool and QPR during the past two seasons, sealed a comfortable victory for the Saints with a low shot from the edge of the area.
