Second-half goals from Radamel Falcao and Victor Ibarbo earned Colombia a 2-0 friendly win over Belgium in Brussels.

Belgium are widely expected to take next year's World Cup by storm with a squad oozing with talent, but despite playing a strong side against Colombia they came unstuck against a team ranked one place above them at fourth in the world.

After a goalless first half Colombia, who finished runners-up to Argentina in the South American World Cup qualifying section, took a 52nd-minute lead through star striker Falcao.

The Monaco hitman broke the offside trap and, despite the best efforts of Simon Mignolet, put Colombia ahead.

Liverpool keeper Mignolet managed to get a hand to the ball as Falcao tried to round him, but it was not enough to put the Colombia captain off and he rolled his shot into an empty net.

That goal followed on from a prolific qualifying campaign for the former Atletico Madrid player, who netted nine times in 11 matches as Colombia sealed their place in Brazil.

Colombia's next goal came from a rather less recognisable source, with Ibarbo netting his first goal for his country.

A deep free-kick beyond the far post was headed back by Cristian Zapata to Ibarbo near the penalty spot and the Cagliari forward took a touch before lashing home a left-footed strike.

Belgium, who were unbeaten with eight wins from 10 games in World Cup qualifying, hit the woodwork through Marouane Fellaini and Dries Mertens as they tried to get back into the match but they could find no way through as their much-vaunted attack drew a blank.
