Manager Karl Robinson hailed MK Dons' 'sensational achievement' after they secured a play-off spot with victory over Sheffield United.

Alan Smith, on loan from Newcastle, headed the only goal of the game after 16 minutes, and despite seeing Daniel Powell sent off for a second yellow card, the Dons held on to qualify foe the play-offs for the fourth time in six seasons.

"It's a great achievement by everybody involved with the club to get in the play-offs two years on the run. With the budget that we've got, it's sensational," Robinson said.

"I keep mentioning the budget only because people don't know how hard these players work and how a lot of them could have gone. They chose financially to stay here and to not chase the money, but to chase a dream which we all believe in.

"It was a David versus Goliath clash and that's how well we played. It was just us on our day. I thought it was spoiled a little bit by the sending off decision.

"Although I can't argue with the second booking I will the first because Daniel Powell got elbowed blatantly in the face. It was amazing, the more they shouted and cried, the more decisions they started to get."
