Seventh heaven for Dons

Grigg opened the scoring in the 17th minute and was joined on the scoresheet by Dean Bowditch just before half-time as the hosts headed into the break with a two-goal lead.

Karl Robinson’s men comfortably racked up an 11th league game unbeaten as Grigg, Darren Potter, Dele Alli, Benik Afobe and Carl Baker all netted in the second half.

The Dons dominated the opening exchanges and deservedly lead after Oldham goalkeeper Paddy Kenny picked up Genseric Kusunga’s back pass inside his area. From the resulting free-kick, Grigg smashed home through a crowd of bodies after Alli’s lay-off.

Bowditch then doubled the Dons’ lead two minutes before the break when he tapped in Baker’s short cross from the right to bag his second goal of the season.

Four minutes after the restart Grigg smashed in his second of the game after fending off three Oldham defenders, before Potter curled in his first goal of the season from Grigg’s clever lay-off inside the area.

Alli added a fifth when he collected the ball from the half-way line, surged into the box and curled the ball sweetly past a despairing Kenny to take his goal tally into double figures for the campaign.

On-loan Arsenal forward Benik Afobe added a sixth for the Dons after 84 minutes before Baker completed the romp with a long-range effort in the final minute.
