Leeds hope to complete a deal to sign Robbie Rogers early next week after the USA international was handed a work permit.
The Whites had to seek special dispensation for the 24-year-old winger as he has not played the required number of games for his country to qualify for a permit but now that has been resolved all Rogers requires is a visa and international clearance.
Rogers has agreed personal terms with Leeds and hopes to sign an initial 18-month contract, with the club having the option of a further year, next week.
Manager Simon Grayson has confirmed Rogers, who became a free agent in December after spending the last four years at Major League Soccer side Columbus Crew, will go straight into his first-team plans as soon as the remaining paperwork is completed.
