Morecambe player-coach Stewart Drummond has agreed a new one-year contract with the League Two club.

The 36-year-old will continue to play for the Shrimps in addition to managing the reserve team.

Morecambe boss Jim Bentley told the club's official website: "I'm delighted to see Stewart sign on again. I see him as an important part of the managerial team but he is also one of our most consistent players.

"He may be at the veteran stage of his career but he is still one of the fittest men in the squad. He has been a model professional who has really looked after himself."

Drummond added: "I've always kept myself fit and feel I have another good year in me at least. I haven't really thought about calling it a day yet.

"I enjoyed my first season managing the reserves and learned a great deal from that. But at the minute I want to be in a position where I am available for selection."
