Newcastle's Tim Krul wants to be Holland's number one goalkeeper for next year's European Championship.
Goalkeeper keen on adding to senior caps tally
Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul has set his sights on the Netherlands' number one shirt for the European Championship following United's unbeaten start to the season.
The Dutchman was instrumental in Newcastle's 2-1 win over Wolves on Saturday which moved the Magpies on to 15 points from their opening seven games in the Premier League.
The 23-year-old, who has conceded just four goals this season, could now add to his two senior caps with the national team this week, as Holland face Moldova and Sweden having already qualified for next summer's finals.
"A little break is always good and we (Newcastle) go into it fourth in the league, so that is great," he told the club's official website.
"I can walk in (to the Holland squad) with my head held high.
"We are qualified, but obviously want to be first in the group.
"I don't know what will happen and whether I will get to play, but it is just great to go away with the squad and continue to be part of it.
"I want to go to the European Championships next summer and that is the most important thing. If I keep playing well for Newcastle then hopefully I will be in with a chance."
