German assistant manager will not break his contract
Germany's assistant manager Hans-Dieter Flick has ruled out taking the vacant manager's post at Bundesliga club Schalke.
The 46-year-old has been strongly linked with the post at the Veltins-Arena after Ralf Rangnick stepped down due to health problems.
Flick, however, wants to retain his employment with the coaching staff of the German national team and is planning on seeing out his contract.
"I am really enjoying working for the German Football Association and I am looking forward to continuing in this role," he told Halterner Zeitung newspaper.
"I am contracted to the German FA until June 2014.
"I have no intention or ambition to take over any managerial vacancy at this present moment in time."
Flick previously managed Hoffenhiem between 2000 and 2005 and was assistant manager at Red Bull Salzburg.
