Laurent Blanc believes France need to bring more experience into their ranks after being left unimpressed by the performance of his 'kids'.
With injuries having decimated his squad, Blanc was forced to name youthful sides in recent friendlies against the United States and Belgium.
Les Bleus picked up a win and a draw from those two fixtures, but they failed to shine on either outing.
Blanc believes a lack of international know-how held France back at times and he is planning to address that issue before next summer's European Championship.
"On a technical level we must be better," said the French coach.
"The players have potential but we looked soft, naive.
"This can be explained by the fact that we had some players who are kids, children. They can't play like experienced players. Youth can show limits at times.
"Maybe the same players will play again next year, or maybe we will get the injured players back. I believe we will be better.
"I am happy to have played the young players but it is difficult to take any lessons from the two games in November."

Blanc has also hinted that Lyon keeper Hugo Lloris will remain his captain heading forward, with Barcelona full-back Eric Abidal having passed up the role.
"Eric didn't feel up to being captain," he said.
"He has everything to be captain. He is 32 years old and has a lot of experience. He could do it, but it would not allow him to play his own game.
"The armband must make the player stronger and Hugo Lloris has done well. There are positions better suited to being captain, but a keeper can make a good captain."
