Defender says he would jump at chance to play for Australia
Ryan McGowan says he would welcome a call-up to the Australian national side.
The Hearts full-back was born in Adelaide and has represented Australia up to Under-23 level.
He qualifies for Scotland however through his parents and had been linked with a switch of national allegiance.
Having had the player scouted, Australia boss Holger Osieck will make a personal check on the player ahead of a friendly with Denmark in June.
An Australian Football Federation spokesman told the Edinburgh Evening News: "Holger will be scouting for Australian players and Ryan McGowan is on that list of players."
McGowan said: "If I am on the radar that's great but most importantly I need to be playing regularly for my club to have any real chance of a call-up.
"My heart has always been with Australia. I was born and brought up there and it's only the fact my parents are from Glasgow that people have been talking about me having that option."
