Trapattoni's men learn opponents with Euro 2012 place on offer

Republic of Ireland will face Estonia in a two-legged play-off as the teams battle to secure one of four remaining places at Euro 2012.

Ireland beat Armenia on Tuesday to book a play-off spot having secured second place in Group B behind Russia, while Estonia finished behind Italy in Group C, eliminating Serbia and Slovenia in the process.

Giovanni Trapattoni's men will be hoping lightning does not strike twice having been cruelly denied a place in the 2010 World Cup finals having lost 2-1 on aggregate to France in their play-off that was decided after a controversial Thierry Henry handball.

Ireland's last major tournament came when they qualified for the 2002 World Cup finals in Korea and Japan having got the better of Iran 2-1 on aggregate in the Uefa-AFC Intercontinental play-off.

Estonia will be looking to make history as they attempt to win a place in a major tournament for the first time in their maiden play-off appearance.

Turkey, who finished second to a Germany side who commanded a perfect record in Group A, will tackle Croatia, who finished behind Greece in Group F.

The match is a repeat their epic Euro 2008 quarter-final clash in Vienna, when Croatia went 1-0 up in the last minute of extra time, only for Turkey to equalise with the last kick of the game.

Croatia then missed three penalties in the shootout while Turkey scored theirs and advanced to the semi-finals.

Czech Republic pipped Scotland to a play-off spot in Group I and their reward is a two-legged clash against Montenegro, who were the lowest points-scoring team to make the play-offs with just 12 from their eight games.

Bosnia and Herzegovina were unlucky not to top Group D ahead of France and Safet Susic's team have a tough task on their hands getting the better of Portugal, who surprisingly finish second behind Denmark.

Euro 2012 play-off draw:

Turkey v Croatia

Estonia v Republic of Ireland

Czech Republic v Montenegro

Bosnia v Portugal

First-named team at home in first legs on November 11 and 12 with second legs on November 15.
