Greeks spot-on to go top, last-gasp Latvia deny Georgia

Greece moved to the top of Euro 2012 qualifying Group F with a 2-1 win over Israel, while Georgia were held by Latvia.

Euro 2004 winners Greece took full advantage of Croatia's inactivity to move above Slaven Bilic's side in the group with victory over Israel.

Dimitris Salpingidis gave Greece the lead on 22 minutes, but Israel drew level just before the hour mark when the unfortunate Nikos Spyropoulos put through his own net.

However, parity proved short-lived as Giorgos Karagounis grabbed the winner from the penalty spot on 63 minutes to send Greece to the summit of the group.

Aleksandrs Cauna's last-gasp goal earned Latvia a 1-1 draw with Georgia in Riga to deny the visitors top spot in Group F.

Georgia looked to be heading for their second win in the group when David Siradze made the breakthrough 16 minutes from time.

However, Cauna popped up with an unlikely leveller in the first minute of stoppage time to secure Latvia a point.
