Late goals see Georgia, Israel and Greece to maximum points
Croatia suffered a surprise defeat on the road, allowing unbeaten Greece to clamber into top spot.
Elsewhere, Israel kept their Euro 2012 qualification dreams alive with a crucial victory over Latvia.
Temuri Ketsbaia maintained his fine record as Georgia boss with a dramatic 1-0 victory over Croatia, who had led Group F heading into Saturday's fixtures.
The hosts extended their unbeaten record to 10 games under Ketsbaia as Levan Kobiashvili lifted them onto nine points, just a point behind their weekend opponents.
After much pressing by Georgia, Otar Martsvaladze finally unlocked the Croatia backline in the final minute, with his pass from the left wing picked up by the advancing Kobiashvili who lashed the ball left-footed into the roof of the net from just inside the area.
Nervy
Israel also left it late as they survived a nervy second half to see off Latvia 2-1.
Elyaniv Barda gave them the lead in a first half they dominated, pouncing on a loose ball inside the six-yard box after 16 minutes to give Andris Vanins no chance.
There was little to suggest Latvia were capable of getting back on level terms but then, in the 62nd minute, a Barda foul on Andrejs Pereplotkins gave them a free-kick and Kaspars Gorkss was on hand to turn Jurijs Zigajevs' set-piece home.
Maor Bar Buzaglo went close as Israel hit back and then, with nine minutes left, his cross was powered in by Beram Kayal to restore their lead.
Drama
Greece scored with the last touch of the game to claim a 1-0 win over Malta and move to the top of the group.
With Croatia having lost earlier in the day, Greece knew a win would put them at the summit but, for 93 minutes they, and striker Kostas Katsouranis in particular, were denied by the brilliance of goalkeeper Justin Haber.
The 2004 winners looked stumped, especially when Socratis Papastathopoulos was sent off with six minutes left but, in the 94th minute, Vasilis Torosidis denied Malta their first point of qualifying.
Haber produced a string of stunning saves to keep the scores level, but, with time almost up, he could do nothing when Torosidis got on the end of a Giorgos Karagounis cross.
