Chelsea full-back won't play for Portuguese coach again
Jose Bosingwa has launched a scathing attack on Portuguese coach Paulo Bento, insisting he will never play for him again.
The Chelsea full-back has not played for the national side for more than a year due to injury, but he was expected to be named in their squad for their Euro 2012 play-off with Bosnia.
However, Bento left him out preferring instead Sporting Lisbon's Joao Pereira and Atletico Madrid's Silvio.
Bosingwa has been left furious and has vowed never to play under Bento again.
"I can not understand what the coach means in Portugal when he talks about mental and emotional issues in relation to me - because I think it would be difficult for a player to reach the level I have if I had those weaknesses," he told Abola.
"With all due respect to the Portuguese league, I play for Chelsea with many of the best players in the world and at this time it is one of the toughest battles in England in recent years.
"I never wanted to comment on this, in fact I just had to respect them because all coaches have preferences and my team-mates deserve consideration.
"But I feel insulted and disrespected by his statements about me. I am proud to say that I have a spotless track record with the national team, unlike him - who emotionally and mentally left much to be desired at Euro 2000 when he was playing.
"It is public knowledge that he is a coach that has conflict with his players. As much as I find it hard, I am not going to go back on my word and I will not wear the national shirt whilst he is coach - he has not mental or emotional capacity to lead a group of men."
