Uncapped Basel star in squad

Basel's Fabian Frei is in line to make Switzerland debut in the forthcoming Euro 2012 qualifiers.

The 22-year-old hit the headlines this week after scoring in Basel's 3-3 draw at Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League.

He has previously been called up by coach Ottmar Hitzfeld, but he now looks set to earn his first cap with the Swiss set to face Wales and Montenegro early next month.

Hitzfeld also named 19-year-old FC Zurich defender Ricardo Rodriguez in the squad for the first time.

Switzerland, who are third in Group G and three points behind Montenegro in second, travel to Cardiff on October 7, before hosting the Montenegrins four days later in Basel.
